This time another 24-hours events start and finish at 1 pm. It’s been three years since Jack's previous tensed day. Now he’s a drug addict - taking heroin was a part of his undercover, but turned into a real addiction, as his friends suppose, due to the stress and losses in his past. His daughter now shares same working place with him, after she had obtained a degree in computer science. Now she's doing her best to convince people around she’s there not because of her father’s fame but because she is really worth it. Her communication with Jack gets tougher again when he finds out that she’s dating his protege. All this occurs with Jack dealing with the dangerous biological weapon prepared by terrorists for attacking LA and President Palmer facing numerous scandals after his re-election campaign had just started.
