Whole season performs just one 24 hours day from a tensed life of Jack Bauer. It all starts at midnight and for the next 24 hours his main task is to keep U.S. senator David Palmer alive. Senator is very important politician - he is a presidential nomination candidate - and there is a warning about assassination plot targeting him. Bauer heads Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit, or CTU, and he is going to prevent the implementation of that plan. But his wife Teri and daughter Kim have been kidnapped by a group of mercenaries who are trying to enforce him follow their rules. During a day, before midnight Bauer is going to guard senator, rescue and return his family and finally discover who and why stands behind all that.
