Marshall and Lily "work" tirelessly - the plan is to give birth to their first child. But when one sex after another brings no news it becomes obvious to them that it's not that easy and fast to make a child. They are interrrupted by a tragedy - the death of Marshall’s father - and Marshall is experiencing serious grief. He get through it with the constant support from his gang. After he gets better a lifetime decision comes up in his mind - he quits the current job and makes step forward to his dream. Marshall wants to protect environment. It takes them rather long time but in season finale Lily announces about her pregnancy. Ted continues different romantic relationships, this time it’s going to be about Zoey Pierson who is also connected with Ted’s new/old job offer, which he accepts. Ms. Pierson is married but Ted will play his role in her divorce. Barney is having another new love thanks to Robin. Maybe that's will work out because we'll see some event from the future and that going to be Barney's wedding.
