Det. Steve McGarrett is a rewarded Lieutenant Commander and a former Navy SEAL. He comes back on Oahu to finish the investigation of his father’s death. But eventually McGarrett decides to stay on the island after Gov. Pat Jameson makes an offer to him to become the head of the newly created team - a small special state task force, which will deal with the different serious crimes committed on the islands. McGarrett completes the team by choosing a few members of it on his own opinion. Det. Danny Williams was recently relocated to Honolulu from New Jersey. He prefers the modern urban views rather than the beaches but still becomes a loyal partner to Det. McGarrett.
