Hank Moody is a person the whole story is about. He used to be a typical New Yorker. In this city he had written some really successful novels. Hank’s family was his wife and daughter - Karen and Becca. But everyone knows no success and happiness can last forever. Hank has got a catching offer - to leave New York and to move together with his whole family to LA, where his newest book will become a movie. No one knows what that move might bring to the whole family. But eventually it will bring the breakup with beloved woman, endless drinking bout, an affair with 16-year-old girl, lots of marihuana and fornication. And all that is going to be followed by destructive self-criticism. Of course during all that it is really difficult to continue the writer’s job.
