Strike Back season 1

Iraq, year 2003. The American invasion hasn’t started yet, but will very soon. John Porter is on a special rescue mission with team of soldiers. He fails to kill a boy from terrorist group, and then presumably that boy kills two Porter’s soldiers. Mission failed, Porter feels his guilt and leaves SAS. Seven years past and John Porter is back again. He receives a chance to fix the problem he left in Iraq in 2003. Same group of terrorists took Katie Dartmouth, a journalist, as a hostage and John is on a mission to save her. But this mission leads him to Hugh Collinson, another soldier who took part in 2003 failed mission. And now Collinson and Porter need to work together. Again.
