The third year of the Prohibition is just about to begin, it’s the New Year’s eve. Nucky has some thoughts and ideas concerning the introduction of some changes into the business. After he reveals his plans to the newly introduced Italian gangster Rosetti, Gyp loses all his conviviality and festive mood - the new partnership awaits him. Margaret’s past actions and decisions about the charity and donations had turned Nucky into a part of philanthropist he wasn't actually going to take. The confrontation between two powerful gangster clans (Capone and O'Banion) continues to increase in Chicago. And Van Alden is among those who hope to benefit from it.
