Again the Chicago rescue fire squad saves people, battles the blaze and earns the general admiration. Matthew Casey, the protagonist, is a natural born leader and highly trained specialist. Being a perfect psychologist, he gives warm encouragement to those who sink into a depression, panic and despair. His calmness and positive emotions help shocked people regain composure and recover themselves.
Though, at heart Matthew is not that positive as he tries to seem. Strained relations with Kelly, one of the fire officers, and problems in his private life torment him. But he has to be strong and take rough with the smooth. Nothing must prevent him from doing his job irreproachably.
